First Friday Eucharistic Celebration Engages HNU’s DEDICATION to the SACRED HEART

Vice President for Finance, Fr. Cyrus Mercado, SVD- led his confreres, composite of two SVD Brothers and 10 SVD priests in the holy mass that ushered in the annual Dedication Day of Holy Name University. It is noted that every start of a new school year- the whole congregation of SVD administrators, Deans and Staff Officers, faculty, students and employees gather to celebrate and consecrate the school year’s effort to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. For this school year 2018-2019, Dedication Day celebrated this First Friday of July marks the start of the new and seventh decade of the academic apostolate of HNU in the province of Bohol and beyond.

Following the Eucharistic celebration was a short program held still at the Barder gym to announce and recognize awardees in varied areas and engagements in the University. First were the employees: faculty and staff who have earned permanent status and rise in their academic rank. The following image shows academic employees who earned recognition for having published articles in reputable journals and presented in academic and/or research conferences in the province, region, national and even in the international levels. These awards were presented to the respective recipient by University President, Fr. Francisco T. Estepa, SVD and Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Fr. Ruel F. Lero, SVD, and announced by CRP Director, Dr. Maria Paz Jimenez-Espiritu.

Leading the group of scholars and educators who were engaged in research presentations, earned permanent status and went up the ladder of academic rank is Engr-Professor Paul Finlay of the College of Engineering and Computer Science (COECS) who stands sixth from the left, Bro Dr. Carl Milos R. Bulilan, SVD for his three (3) research presentations, Dr. Rosalina Rara-Sarabosing of the CAS-School of Graduate Studies for virtual presentation during the Asian Conference on Arts and Humanities sponsored by International Academic Forum (iafor), Dr. Charina Inog-Narido who both earned her rank as Associate Professor 3 and her research presentations and publication during the school year 2017-2018, Prof. Leomar Virador of the College of Business and Accountancy, together with Dr. Lucell Larawan, and Dr. Ethel Doria and Prof. Fe Conui for their research paper presentation in Cagayan de Oro City. Prof. Hyacinth Suarez is also recognized for her science paper on Marine Biology presented internationally.

The highlight of July 6th Dedication Day is the Honoring and Thanksgiving Fellowship held at the Bohol Topics Resort and Hotel- Dagohoy Ballroom. After the Testimonial Dinner is a short tribute to the Service Awardees, namely: EstebanCarosus, Noemi Digal, Dr. Maria Paz Espiritu and Ms Carlota Glovasa. Then the main awardees are the four retirees who has served HNU for some 30 to 40 years, such as: Ms. Marichu Apale of the College of Health Services (CON/Med Tech), Mrs. Maria Fe M. Crescencio of the Basic Education Department (SHS), Ms. Teofila P. Iter of the Library Services and Dr. Rosalina Rara-Sarabosing of the College of Arts and Sciences and School of Graduate Studies.
