The College of Computer Studies faculty members headed by the dean Amie Rosarie C. Caballo attended a seminar on Creating Scoring Rubrics by Dr. Roque Bongcac, the dean of the College of Education last July 25, 2013.
Topics on reviewing the Traditional Way of Formulating Objectives vis-a-vis OBE Framework, types of scoring rubrics and creating rubrics including the details on the components, rules and process of creating and some useful examples were discussed by Dr. Bongcac. Likewise, the Importance of scoring rubrics was also highlighted in the seminar. The rubrics specify teachers' expectations of students and guide students in satisfying these expectations. It also allows students to acquire wisdom in evaluation their quality of their own work against that ofothers. Rubrics are efficient and require less time for teachers inevaluating students' performance and provide more informative feedback on students' strengths and weaknesses.
The college initiated such seminar in preparation of the OBE Framework that will be implemented relative to the conversion to the K+12 educational system.
